Fully qualified counsellor and member of the BACP

I offer counselling based on a humanistic approach, which is about encouraging individuals to think about their feelings and to take responsibility for their thoughts and actions. Our work focuses on your development, as an individual, based upon the specific needs you have. Through following your lead and drawing on different tools and resources, together we can work towards the outcome that you desire.

What will you experience?

The benefit of counselling is that it gives you the space to talk about anything you want to, without negative judgement. You can talk freely and honestly without putting extra pressure on your relationships and loved ones.

Alongside talking, I use a variety of creative techniques to help you find a way of expressing yourself beyond words. Therefore when a topic or issue arises that may be difficult to verbalise, I may use drawing, writing, story telling, and figure work as an alternative. I’ll draw upon my varied knowledge and experience to support and journey with you, as you build your understanding and skill sets for dealing with all that life can bring.

Alternatively, you may feel unsure about what it is you need, you know that something doesn’t feel right; we can work with that too. Together we can explore the different parts of your life and highlight any issues or areas that may be stuck or requiring some attention, thus in turn bring focus and direction to our work.

What can you expect?

Once you have contacted me, I will respond to arrange a free phone call with you at a time and date that is convenient. In this call I will introduce myself, briefly explore how we may work together and establish a time and date that suits you to meet. I will then send an email to confirm these details, provide directions and attach a copy of the working agreement.

During our first session, I will gather a few more details about you and what brought you to counselling. From here we will negotiate our working relationship, which will include how frequently to meet. In my experience, meeting weekly is beneficial; however we will work out what is best for you.

Sessions can be held either face to face, via video call or over the phone. All sessions are one hour long.

About Me

I am a creative and resourceful therapist, who is focused on working with you to attain the life you want. Due to the caring nature of counselling I work hard to offer a kind and trusting relationship that is built on my reliability and consistency. I also have extensive experience as a therapist and a wide range of knowledge across the key areas and topics that can challenge us in life.

As well as providing sessions for addressing life events and changes, I have an interest in supporting parents either together or individually, with challenges from birthing trauma to matters that arise with older children.

My BACP Membership Profile

"Samantha managed to help me understand my feelings when I didn't understand them myself. She was supportive and empathetic and reassured me I was normal.

After talking to her things became much clearer and she made me feel more positive and empowered to get through the trauma I was experiencing. I now feel more able to cope with the situation and have been able to make a positive change to my mindset to help me dispel any negative emotions."
